Enter Avatar Speed Dating. It is exactly the same as real world speed dating, except the venue is virtual and each person is represented by a VR avatar.

With the realism of MapMerge avatars, and motion capture technology, the experience will be close enough to a real-world encounter to decide if you like someone. If you both like each other, the next step is a date in the Now. After a successful date (or dates) in a virtual environment, you can arrange to meet in person. In real life they will be recognisable to each other, and  will already know that they like each other.

If it doesn’t work out in the Now, never mind – they won’t know your phone number or real name, they won’t be able to follow you home, and violence is impossible.
